And just before the 5:30 Sable protest, from 4-5:30, also at the CEC hub (1219 State Street) join us at Climate Fridays, where today the topic is the City’s plan for sea level rise adaptation.

Hear from Melissa Hetrick, the City of Santa Barbara’s Adaptation and Resilience Manager to learn about the status of the plan, and how the community can participate. In addition, Dan Galpern of the Climate Protection & Restoration Initiative will explain how you can sign the petition urging the United States to remain signed on to the World Climate Treaty.

So it’s a perfect double bill — the less oil gets pumped, the less complicated the adaptation needs! And what better way to celebrate June being World Ocean Month than to show up to protect our beloved coast.

June 23 — Two important issues at County Supervisors’ meeting. Show up if you can!

What: Supervisors will vote on proposal to ban onshore oil and gas drilling. Sheriff’s office will discuss ICE arrests at County jails.

Where: Joseph Centeno Betteravia Government Admin Building, 511 East Lakeside Parkway, Santa Maria

When: June 23, 9 a.m.
