Jan. 20: Santa Barbara Free America Walkout
What: Protest and March on State St.
When: Tuesday, January 20, 2:00 PM
Where: Superior Court Of California County Of Santa Barbara, 1100 Anacapa Street
The same people that want to pillage our natural resources are the ones that brutally arrest and detain our immigrant neighbors. Right now, more than ever, we have to fight on all fronts. So, in order to protect the climate, and protest the general rise of fascist tactics, join us in supporting the nationwide walkout organized by Women’s March. Read their message below, and RSVP now!
2025 was a year of marches that showed our collective strength. And as the threats grow, our movement must evolve and escalate. This is a protest and a promise. In the face of fascism, we will be ungovernable.
On January 20, we will gather neighbors and classmates, and turn our back and walk out on fascism. Walk out to block the normal routines of power, and make the stakes real.
Bring signs. Walk out of whatever we would normally be doing, then join us when you can. We will start at 2pm, and keep going as people arrive, march to State St. Let’s see how long we can keep our voices raised! On January 20, we withdraw our labor, our money, and our consent.

Tell the Feds: No new drilling off our coast!
Last Friday’s event at the CEC was a roaring success. Over 150 people turned up (including Ted Danson!) to support the effort to keep new drilling off our coast. Members of 350 and Fearless Grandmothers sponsored a social media booth (see pic) to help spread the word.
We need to flood the Interior Department comments to let them know that an oil-free coastal California is vital for tourism, local recreation, the fishing industry, and the health of people and ecosystems. You still have time to share your own reason for wanting to protect the coast.
You can submit a public comment for the first analysis of the draft proposal until January 23, 2026 until 11:59 PM EST (8:59 PM PST). Tell the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management that we as Californians are united in opposition to any new drilling off our coast – and in any U.S. waters.
