Venezuela

For climate activists, the Trump administration’s latest (mis)adventure encapsulates so much of what’s wrong with dirty fossil fuels on the most fundamental level; non-renewable resources that still remain critical to our energy infrastructure will bring out the worst impulses in the worst people. Not that we needed more reasons to continue pushing for a Green Economy, but here we’ve got a glaring one.

We agree with our allies at Indivisible that the first step is to register our dismay with our elected officials, and the second will be to show the world through mass demonstrations that many, many Americans disagree with Trump’s 19th century colonial impulses.

For now,  join us at Indivisible’s regular Saturday demonstration against all things Trump at the corner of Hitchcock and State from 10 to noon near the Whole Foods Market.

And here are Indivisible’s suggested asks for our representatives:

Demand that Congress immediately pass a War Powers resolution to block all further military action and occupation in Venezuela, and hold public hearings to investigate the legality and justification of the administration’s aggressive use of U.S. military force.

We call for accountability for all involved, including the impeachment of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, demanding the resignation of Marco Rubio as Secretary of State, and calling for court martial of the military commanders who violated their oath of loyalty to the Constitution by obeying what they knew to be an illegal order.

On a Bright Note, the First Climate Friday of 2026 is an Expanding Opportunity

To start off the year, the first 2026 Climate Friday will feature a resource fair that will also give you a chance to network. You’ll learn about groups you didn’t know existed, and meet people who are keen to work on the same issues you are. Either way, expanding your knowledge and your network will be positive ways to start the new year.

When: January 9th, 4-6 p.m.

Where: CEC Hub, 1219 State St., Suite A

. . . and Another Bright Note
